Research Dept at New Cross Hospital has contacted me to participate in a copper heel study.

As I am about to embark upon new anti tnf therapy, should I participate or not? Personal view is that copper bracelets don't help, so why should the copper heel?

Would welcome your views, please.

Many thanks and Happy Easter to all.

Hi Nina,

I've read about those copper heels and I thought the same as you......the bracelets don't work so why would the heel?
It's not a good idea to do it at the same time as starting anti-tnfs because you wouldn't know which of them was working, if you had any improvement in the RA.
It might be worth trying if you are going to have to wait a long time for the anti-tnfs but otherwise I would say no.

I'm not sure about this Nina. Could your GP give you some advice - or even your consultant rheummy?

Thanks for your replies, everyone.

Lylie, copper heels are placed in your shoes - never seen or heard of them before receiving the correspondence from hospital - meant to work (or not as the case may be) the same as the bracelets. Have attached a link:

Doreen, think I am in agreement with yourself - not good time to undergo this so am going to decline. Jean - will mention it to my gp who I next see on 13/4 but wanted to talk more about anti tnfs to him.

I would not try anything whilst about to embark on the anti-tnf journey either, Nina, but thanks for explaining what they are; very interesting!

Love,

Amanda
